Synopsis

Mapondera: Soldier of Zimbabwe is a the story of the last and greatest fighter of his country against Cecil Rhodes' squatters. Though Mapondera had some exhilarating victories, his even more successful efforts against the marauding Portuguese on the Eastern Frontier (Mozambique) weakened his total effort. Gradually, his forces were worn down and Zimbabwean resistance ended with Mapondera's going on a hunger strike to his death to induce his freedom and that of his people in a British prison in 1907.
