Synopsis

Creatures at the Top is a true story narrated by the author Stephen Amos Mpofu. The book starts with the author's joys and sorrows during seventeen years in exile, working as a journalist in Zambia. The story subsequently outlines the nasty narrative the writer experienced upon returning home to his native Zimbabwe, in 1980. The second part of the book presents the author's journalism experience with Zimbabwe Newspapers for over twenty years, working in editorial positions at The Herald, The Sunday Mail and at The Chronicle which he edited for 12 years.

Review

In the final analysis, Stephen Mpofu is unique in that despite what he sees as his eventual sidelining in independent Zimbabwe, he does not break ranks with nationalist ethos. He remains positively within the ideals of self rule. - Memory Chirere, KwaChirere
