Synopsis

Flora Wild's book, Patterns of Poetry in Zimbabwe, is 'not intended to be a comprehensive anthology, covering every single poet of the country and his or her poetic work,' but is meant as 'a kind of focus on some important trends in contemporary Zimbabwean poetry, its sources, its developments, its backgrounds, and its perspectives.'

Review

[Veit-Wild] succeeds in introducing her readers to the different personalities of these writers by giving them sufficient time to talk without letting them take over the dialogue. Her critical analysis is well balanced. - Dieter Riemenschneider, Research in African Literatures
