Synopsis

This book brings together some seventy- five of the author's articles from The Herald and The Zimbabwe Mirror written over a period of five years, with photographs of some of the objects of art about which she is writing. Together the articles constitute a contemporary study of one of the great traditions of sculpture, which has given rise to some of the great stone sculptors of the world.

Author

Celia Winter-Irving, was an Australian-born, Zimbabwean-based artist and art critic who wrote extensively on Zimbabwean art, especially Shona sculpture, when she lived in Harare from 1987–2008.
