Synopsis

When the election results were read over the radio on March 4, 1980, Robert Mugabe and his supporters were jubilant. Their victory brought to an end 90 years of racist white minority rule in the African nation of Rhodesia. Soon the country would become Zimbabwe, a black majority ruled democracy, and Mugabe would be its leader.
