Synopsis
The story of modern Zimbabwe is the story of Robert Gabriel Mugabe. It is a tale of black political power achieved through extreme hardship and a relentless twenty year war. Today, with a flourishing economy and free public education and health care systems, Zimbabwe is considered to be one of the most successful countries in black Africa. Yet for nearly 100 years, the country then known as Southern Rhodesia was controlled by a powerful white minority that treated blacks as second class citizens, economically, socially, and politically.
