Social Policy in an Economy under Stress

The case of Zimbabwe

Allast Mwanza

The book analyses the impact of the Economic Structural Adjustment Programme (ESAP) in Zimbabwe on the vulnerable and the marginalised and their coping strategies in times of adversity. We learn that the adjustment programme has contributed to the worsening of the poverty situation as indicated by the fact that the majority of the population is unable to access social services such as health, education and housing.
